Self-hosted if volume is high or data must stay with you, and you have someone, possibly me, to keep the server healthy. Cloud if you want none of that responsibility. Both run the same workflows.

Is n8n hard for my staff to use?

To run and monitor, no. To build, somewhat, and that is the point of the runbook. Staff should be able to see a workflow, understand it, and know who to call. Building new ones is what I am for.

Businesses with real volume, data they want to keep on their own infrastructure, or workflows that need code. Anyone who has hit a Zapier bill they did not like.
